The Griff Hamlin Band's debut, self-titled CD is a fiery blend of blues and rock with brilliant guitar, powerful vocals, and a caliber of songwriting rarely found in blues music. Each track stands on its own as the CD goes from Texas style shuffles to Lousiana funk and all out rockers with ease. Blues guitar fans will have no shortage of that here.
Griff was brought up in an unusually musical family. With his father playing piano and trombone, his uncle playing guitar, fiddle, harmonica, and piano, and his grandfather on trumpet, the original Griff Hamlin band started many years ago in a living room in Central Missouri. Today things are a little different, but the spirit of making music and having a good time hasn?t changed all that much.
Griff and bass player Mark Smith met back in 1993 when Griff was trying to form a working band in Southern California. Although that project never hit, Griff and Mark realized that what they really enjoyed playing were the blues tunes in their set. After a few months, they decided to enlist a drummer and the last 9 years have been filled with club gigs up and down the Southern California Coast. Most notably, the group has performed at the Hard Rock Café in Newport Beach and the Galaxy Theatre, as well as several outdoor festivals including the All American Motorcycle Show, The Orange County Fair, and the Catalina Island Blues on the Beach series.
The Griff Hamlin Band recently released their debut, self-titled CD and it quickly climbed to number 3 on the mp3.com blues album chart with the single ?Got To End? reaching number 2 and ?Don?t Lie? reaching number 3 on the Blues/Rock singles charts. They are currently working on material for their next recording project and playing shows constantly throughout Southern California.
